The Dominican Republic

Like many Quebecers, in winter I feel the need to go and visit a place in the sun. I'm not a big fan of springs although they have their advantages.

I prefer backpacking trips because they allow me to see more and I feel like I really immerse myself in the place. However this time for lack of time we opted for a small resort in Las Terrenas. We only had a week at our disposal. Obviously, we took a taxi and made excursions there in order to see as much as possible, but I still feel like I haven't seen anything yet.

When travelling I only bring my camera and my 24-70mm lens. It's a go-to choice because it's lightweight and gives me some flexibility. On the other hand, if I had been photographing monkeys or birds, it would clearly have been insufficient.

I didn't have any trouble with the local people. I take my camera out of its bag only when I take pictures and put it away immediately afterwards. My go-to bag is a Lole yoga bag that doubles as a backpack. It allows me to take sunscreen, water, towel, food and my camera.

I had a big crush on a small crab and children swimming, but the most beautiful are the beaches. We enjoyed long walks on the beaches almost every day of our trip and my eyes continued to marvel at all the shades of blue.

I intend to return there one day to visit the parks and the salt flats, but for now here is a small overview of the memories that I brought back for you.
