In this month of December, I'm offering you a fun and festive little experience to do when it's cold outside. Take pictures of soap bubbles. The result is surprising, mesmerizing and magnificent.

In my opinion, it was from this experience that they invented the Christmas balls that we put in our tree. Okay! Maybe not, but you can see the bubbles freeze and crystallize in real time. It looks like a time-lapse movie when crystals form and envelop the bubble.

How do you get there? First, I made a mixture of one cup of water, two tablespoons of corn syrup, and two tablespoons of dish soap. I found the recipe on the web. I add the link at the bottom of the article.

The hardest part is blowing the bubble and being fast enough to focus on the little frost that is emerging without it exploding. It goes very quickly, and the camera's focus is not always easy to do, especially with the light reflecting off the snow. Ideally, it should be a cold day with no wind. For my part, Alexandre my husband, was forced to blow the bubbles while I concentrated on the photo.

While I use a macroscopic lens to bite into these frosty bubbles, some nice photos can also be taken with a standard camera or phone.

I have done several photoshoots since the start of winter and selected only my favorites. It’s an addictive activity! So go ahead! Creating your own frost bubbles, even if you are not taking pictures, the experience is magnificent to see. Happy Christmas everyone!
